Lady 'Backs vs. Lady Eagles
20 November, 2009
The girls' basketball team got called out of class to get ready to travel to their first game. We then drove fr about frty minutes to Colorado City, Arizona and El Capitan High School. Thier school bulletin was illuminated adn it read, "Eagles vs. Diamondbacks!" We walked into their gym just in time for tip-off of the boys' game. I think this change in atmosphere caused all of our energy levels to spike, and got everyone ready for the upcoming game. At halftime of the boys' game, the team was taken to a hallway on the campus. For the ensuing two quarters the girls reviewed strategy, got focused, and asked our Higher Power to be with us during this game. When our team ran into the gym, they held their heads high.
We started the game off with numbers 22, 3, 21, 10, and 5. With three minutes and twenty-siz seconds left in the first quarter, #2 made our first shot. At the end of the first half, the score was Eagles 24 - Lady 'Backs 2.
We went back to our hall during ahlftime where Betsy, the Head Coack and Assistant Athletic Director, said that we needed to keep moving on offense and also be more aggressive.
By the end of the third quarter, we had scored two more points from numbers 21 and 2. In the last three minutes of the game we had six points. The final score was 41-8. We lost, but we still had a great time! The mood was positive and upbeat as we enjoyed peanut butter and jelly sandwiches on the way back to the ranch.
