The Summer Celebration was an all-day event on Tuesday, July 13th.  It began with breakfast in a bag and then a trip into Hurricane to the Coral Cliffs Cinema.  The girls saw Eclipse, many for the first time, and all were ecstatic!  Most of the girls emerged from the theater talking constantly and so fast that for the most part it was unintelligible.  The boys went to see Knight and Day, which was filled with action, adventure, and a little romance.  The boys were really excited to see it.  One of the guys, Chris said, “I graduate tomorrow and I’m so glad I get to spend my last day having a blast!”

Following the movie, students enjoyed an outdoor barbecue lunch that included seconds for everyone.  Next, the students split into groups according to campus and participated in rotations between three stations that kept the fun going all day long: Swimming; dunk tank, pie eating contest, and slip n’ slide; and ultimate Frisbee.

Many of the students echoed a similar sentiment, “All in all, it was an amazing day!  A big ‘thank you’ to all the staff who helping make this possible for us!”

A Little About US!

After so many blogs about everyone else, we thought we would like to formally introduce ourselves and fill you in on what our Media Club has been up to behind the scenes at DRA.  The current members of the club are Ben, Ryan, Corrina, and LaRisa.  We have been working hard on making everything we are involved in exciting and entertaining.  We report on all the sports, clubs, activities, and benefits at DRA – trying to make them look and sound as fun as they really are in person.  We would like to especially thank Betsy for all her time and feedback.  Also, we would like to thank Stacey for her insight with editing the film.  And finally, we would like to thank Robbie for allowing us to use his computer for editing and supplying us with video equipment.  “Media Club is where it’s at!”

Fourth of July Concert
On Sunday, the Fourth of July, the entire Diamond Ranch Academy campus came out to show their patriotism.  Mr. Meyers and Mr. Force put on a Fourth of July celebration concert.  Mr. Meyers played a few familiar songs like “Yankee Doodle” and “The Star Spangled Banner” while also giving the backgrounds of the songs and past American wars.  Drew, a student on girls’ campus, said afterward, “They put on a really good show!”
